HIV Screening Programme
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) attacks that part of the immune system responsible for protecting the body against infection and disease. AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is diagnosed when the immune system has been weakened so much by HIV that it can’t fight certain life-threatening infections and illnesses.
Testing is the only way to know if you have the HIV virus and testing is the first step to getting medical care, counselling and support.
• A negative HIV test can free you from unnecessary stress.
• Early diagnosis/testing can save your life and protect others too.
• Knowing you are HIV + gives you the best chance of a healthy life with treatment.
• Avoiding HIV testing will allow the virus to silently damage your health.
